IMM shines at the UPV 2025 Research Awards with two prizes

On November 4, 2025, the Nexus building hosted the UPV 2025 Research Awards Gala, an event marked by science, technology, dissemination, and, above all, UPV talent.

The gala began with the classic R&D quiz, featuring both UPV projects and international projects, which tested the audience’s knowledge. The audience also enjoyed performances by the winners of the latest UPV scientific monologue contest. The theatrical and outreach aspect was provided by Im=P·r[0] – the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia – one of the most renowned scientific communication groups in Spain.

In the awards section, the IMM had a particularly outstanding night. Professor Juan Carlos Cortés was recognized with the Award for Excellent Impact in Research, while Juan Ramón Torregrosa received the Award for Excellent Career in Research.

With these awards, the IMM consolidates its position as one of the most prominent research institutes at the UPV. In previous years, the institute had already been a protagonist in these awards: Juan Ramón Torregrosa (2022) was awarded for his Excellent Career in Research; Alicia Cordero (2023), for Excellent Impact of Research; and Néstor Thome (2024), for Excellent Impact of Research and Excellent Publication in Research.

The double success of 2025 reinforces the outstanding track record of the IMM, which continues to contribute to the advancement of mathematical knowledge from an interdisciplinary perspective and with international impact.
