Solving the Bonnet Problem (International Mathematics Day 2025)

To celebrate International Mathematics Day and International Women’s Day in March 2025, the DMA, the IMM and IUMPA have organised a projection of the documentary ‘Solving the Bonnet Problem’, directed by Professor Ekaterina Eremenko, from the Institut für Mathematik of the Technische Universität Berlin, on Thursday 27 March.
This short film follows the work of three mathematicians as they collaborate to solve an ancient geometric problem, while allowing us to witness how a complex mathematical problem is solved, understanding some of the missteps, breakthroughs and successes. The activity will have two parts: firstly, the documentary projection (60 min.), and secondly, a colloquium with the mathematician and director of the documentary. This activity will take place in the Rectorate Hall from 12.15h.
